Level 1 and 2 Coaching Programs Course Details

Authentic Coaching Group is grounded in a holistic philosophy of empowerment, collaboration and evolution of life. We facilitate our client’s journey towards feeling empowered, clearer about their purpose and direction, recognizing that their experiences serve them as valuable learning through which they evolve in their world.

Our coach training, supervision and mentor coaching programs combine the art, ethics, competencies and standards outlined by the ICF. We apply the knowledge and experience of the fields clients most often choose to evolve in, as individuals, as partners in a relationship and as members of teams or communities.

The programs offer comprehensive education, training and mentor coaching in the Core Coaching Competences and Code of Ethics as defined by the ICF. The programs prepare the participants for conducting a trustworthy and grounded coaching practice

Level 1 Coaching Foundation

Module 1: An Introduction to Coaching Skills & Competencies

​This foundational module provides a comprehensive introduction to the principles and practices of professional coaching, establishing a robust understanding of its unique position among other helping professions.​ It delves into the historical evolution of coaching, offering context for its current methodologies and standards. Participants will explore the distinctions between internal and external coaching within organizational settings, gaining insight into the diverse applications of coaching.

The central focus of this module is a thorough overview of the International Coaching Federation (ICF) Core Competencies, which serve as the global benchmark for professional coaching excellence. The globally recognized GROW model is introduced as a practical framework for structuring coaching conversations, alongside a detailed outline for effective coaching sessions. The module also covers the essential elements of building a strong coaching culture within any environment and developing a powerful coaching presence that fosters trust and facilitates client growth.

Module 2: Knowing and Growing: From Trust to Transformation

This module focuses on the practical application of coaching skills, emphasizing the ethical considerations and interpersonal dynamics crucial for effective coaching.​ Participants will delve into the profound connection between personal values, ICF ethics, and the coaching process, understanding how these elements shape a coach’s integrity and client trust. Key attention will be given to mastering advanced listening and questioning techniques, which are fundamental to uncovering client insights and fostering self-discovery.

The module also explores the development of a robust coaching mindset, enabling coaches to approach each client interaction with empathy, curiosity, and non-judgment. Practical skills for establishing clear coaching agreements, setting appropriate boundaries, and managing client expectations are covered in depth. 

This includes strategies for cultivating a safe and trusting environment where coachees feel empowered to explore challenges and embrace growth.

Module 3: Coaching Tools, Assessments, and Coaching Methodologies & Techniques

​This module provides an in-depth exploration of diverse coaching methodologies, tools, and techniques, equipping participants with a comprehensive skill set to address varied client needs.​ ​It introduces the Appreciative Inquiry (AI) model, which focuses on leveraging strengths and positive experiences for change. ​Participants will also learn about Brain-based coaching, an approach that applies neuroscience insights to improve thinking, behavior, and leadership.

​The course covers Behavioral coaching techniques, emphasizing goal-setting, action planning, and behavioral follow-through. ​Neuroscience in coaching is explored to understand how brain science can enhance emotional regulation, self-awareness, and decision-making. ​A dedicated section on working with core values will teach how these fundamental beliefs guide decisions and shape how individuals live and grow.

​Positive psychology in coaching, specifically strength-based coaching, is highlighted as a powerful approach to foster lasting growth by focusing on inherent strengths and positive attributes. ​The module examines the role of Emotional Intelligence (EQ) in coaching, emphasizing its importance in building trust, improving communication, and managing interpersonal dynamics. ​System theories in organizational and executive coaching are discussed to understand how individuals function within complex organizational environments.

​Furthermore, participants will gain insights into various Change theories in coaching, providing frameworks to understand and facilitate individual and organizational transformation. ​Adult learning theories in coaching are presented to highlight how adults learn differently and how coaching can effectively support their personal and professional development. ​The Theory of Multiple Intelligences is explored to help coaches identify and leverage clients’ diverse talents and learning styles.

Finally, the module provides practical guidance on utilizing various assessments in coaching, including the Agile Brain assessment, to gain deeper insights into clients’ personality traits, values, and behaviors, and to track progress effectively.

Module 4: Choice, Change, Growth, and Challenge

​This module explores the transformative journey of clients through the lens of choice, change, growth, and challenge, equipping coaches with advanced skills to navigate these critical areas effectively.​ ​It begins with “Authoring our narrative,” focusing on how clients construct their personal stories and how coaches can help them reframe limiting narratives into empowering ones. ​The module then delves into “Empowering and Limiting Beliefs,” teaching methods to identify and challenge beliefs that either propel or hinder client progress.

​”Life positions” are examined to understand clients’ fundamental attitudes towards themselves and others, providing insight into their interaction patterns. ​A significant portion is dedicated to “Emotions in the process of change,” where coaches learn to acknowledge, process, and leverage emotions as catalysts for transformation, rather than obstacles. ​”Balancing support and challenge” is a key theme, emphasizing the coach’s role in providing a safe space while simultaneously encouraging clients to step out of their comfort zones for growth.

​The module incorporates “Live Demonstrations of coaching,” allowing participants to observe expert coaching in action, followed by “Coaching Practice and Feedback,” where students will apply their learning in real-time coaching scenarios and receive constructive feedback to refine their skills. ​This practical component reinforces theoretical knowledge and prepares coaches to confidently guide clients through their unique paths of choice, change, growth, and challenge.

Module 5: Providing Feedback and Other Coaching Tools

​This module focuses on advanced coaching techniques, beginning with the crucial skill of “Providing feedback as a coach,” where participants learn to deliver

 

 impactful and constructive feedback that fosters client growth without demotivation.​ It then delves into practical applications with “Time management coaching techniques” and “Project management in coaching,” equipping coaches with strategies to help clients optimize their time and successfully execute projects.

The module also explores innovative approaches such as “Visualization and imagery for aligning with organizational goals,” demonstrating how these tools can enhance clarity and commitment within a professional context. A key distinction is made between “Group versus team coaching,” outlining the unique dynamics and methodologies for each, and offering insights into “Creating trust with your coaching team.” Furthermore, coaches will discover strategies on “How to create maximum engagement and increase productivity” within their coaching engagements.

Finally, “Brainstorming as a coaching technique” is introduced as a powerful method for unlocking client potential and generating creative solutions.

Module 6: Group Coach Mentoring, Supervision & 1:1 Mentoring

​​This module offers a blended approach to professional development, encompassing “7 hours of group coach mentoring” where participants engage in collaborative learning and peer feedback sessions to refine their coaching skills​. ​Group mentor coaching often involves listening to other coaches’ work and provides insights into specific coaching skills and diverse coaching styles. ​The module also provides “Individual mentoring sessions for Level 1 certification,” offering personalized guidance to prepare coaches for ICF certification, a crucial step for credentialing and renewal. ​Mentoring is considered essential for developing and demonstrating the coaching competencies required for certification.

A “3-hour supervision clinic” is included, which is a collaborative dialogue designed to help coaches reflect on their practice, develop skills, and explore their approach to coaching relationships. ​Supervision is important for professional growth and self-reflection, allowing coaches to explore their relationship to their work and clients. ​This module also involves “Review & analysis of a recording of you working with a real client,” providing concrete feedback based on actual coaching sessions.

​The curriculum supports “Preparation for ICF credentialing and CKA exam,” helping coaches meet the necessary requirements for certification. ​Group mentor coaching satisfies a portion of the required mentoring hours for ICF certification. ​To ensure comprehensive understanding, the module includes “Oral & written exams for Level 1 certification”. ​Upon successful completion, participants receive “Administering Level 1 Authentic Coaching Group Graduating Certificates,” recognizing their achievement. Finally, “Joining alumni learning portal and alumni social media groups” provides ongoing support and a platform for continuous learning and networking within the coaching community.

Level 2 Advanced Professional  Coaching Techniques

Module 1: An Introduction to Coaching Skills & Competencies

​This foundational module, “An Introduction to Coaching Skills & Competencies,” provides a comprehensive overview of the coaching profession, starting with “Coaching definitions” to establish a clear understanding of its core principles.​ It then critically examines “The difference between coaching, psychology, counseling, consulting, mentoring, teaching, supervising and other related interventions,” helping participants distinguish coaching from other professional practices and understand its unique value proposition. The module further explores “The difference between internal and external coaching in organizations” and delves into the “Precursors to coaching” and “The history of coaching,” offering a rich contextual background for the discipline.

A significant portion of this module is dedicated to the professional standards of coaching, including an “Overview of ICF core competencies,” which are essential for effective and ethical coaching. Participants will receive an “Introduction to the PCC Markers,” providing insights into the performance indicators used for Professional Certified Coach (PCC) assessment. The practical application of coaching is introduced through the widely recognized “GROW model,” a structured framework for goal setting and problem-solving, along with a “Coaching session outline” to guide practitioners in structuring effective sessions.

Module 2: Delving Deeper into the ‘Who’ and the ‘What’

This module, “Delving Deeper into the ‘Who’ and the ‘What’,” builds upon the foundational concepts by exploring the intrinsic elements of effective coaching, beginning with an in-depth look at “Values, ICF ethics and coaching” to ensure ethical practice and client-centric approaches. A critical focus is placed on developing acute observational skills through “Listening for the who of the client” and mastering the art of inquiry with “Asking questions that explore the who and the what,” enabling coaches to uncover deeper client motivations and perspectives. This module also emphasizes cultivating a robust “Coaching Mindset,” which is essential for fostering a supportive and empowering coaching relationship.

The module then transitions into the practicalities of initiating and sustaining a coaching engagement, starting with “Establishing a coaching agreement, setting boundaries and expectations” to create clear parameters for the coaching journey. Module 5: Group & Team Coaching Skills

​The module addresses the nuanced skill of “When to provide feedback privately,” emphasizing that critical feedback should always be delivered one-on-one to foster a psychologically safe environment. ​Coaches will also discover effective strategies on “How to create maximum engagement” within their coaching engagements, ensuring active participation and deeper learning from all individuals. ​Finally, “Brainstorming as a coaching technique” is introduced as a powerful method for unlocking client potential, generating creative solutions, and fostering collaboration within groups and teams.

Module 6: Reflection, Ethics and Integration

​This final module focuses on refining coaching practice through ethical considerations, reflective learning, and integrative approaches.​ It begins by exploring “Ethics, Diversity & Inclusion” in coaching, equipping participants with the knowledge and sensitivity to navigate complex ethical dilemmas and foster inclusive environments for all clients. 

The module then delves into advanced methodologies such as “Integrative Coaching and the Butterfly Model,” demonstrating how to synthesize various coaching theories and tools into a cohesive and personalized approach.

​Participants will gain a deeper understanding of developing a robust “Coaching Framework,” which helps structure their practice and ensures consistent, high-quality interventions. A unique and invaluable component of this module is “3 hours of group coach mentoring using recordings,” providing a practical opportunity for coaches to receive personalized feedback and refine their skills through real-world case studies. The module concludes with an emphasis on “Celebrating Progress,” highlighting the importance of acknowledging milestones and reinforcing positive outcomes to sustain client motivation and success.

Module 7: 1:1 Mentoring and Final Submission

​​This concluding module is strategically designed to prepare participants for the rigorous process of ICF credentialing​. ​It features “Individual mentoring sessions for Level 2 certification,” offering tailored guidance to each coach as they work towards achieving their Professional Certified Coach (PCC) credential. ​A key activity includes “Reviewing and analyzing a recording of you working with a real coaching client,” where participants submit an actual coaching session for detailed evaluation.

​”Feedback based on evidence of ICF PCC Markers” is provided to help coaches align their practice with the specific behavioral indicators required for PCC certification. Participants are then tasked with the crucial “Submission of an audio recording and transcript that you believe demonstrates the PCC standard”. The module culminates with “Oral & written exams for Level 2 certification,” assessing both theoretical knowledge and practical application.

Upon successful completion, “Administering Level 2 Authentic Coaching Group Graduating Certificates” will be awarded. ​To support continued development and foster a strong professional community, graduates will gain access to an “alumni learning portal and alumni social media groups”
